Riot Games is reportedly nearing a monumental partnership with BAM Tech, a technology subsidiary of Major League Baseball Advanced Media. SportsBusiness Daily reports that a streaming and video deal for competitive League of Legends is on the horizon at an estimated price of $90 million annually.
BAM Tech is a partnership between MLBAM, The Walt Disney Company and the National Hockey League and currently deals with online streaming for HBO, MLB, NHL and WWE. The SportsBusiness report says that the two entities have been in contact for many weeks now and that a deal could be done in a few more weeks. There are no details of what the partnership would entail, but it is expected to involve highlight video, stats and potentially live streams.
A move of this magnitude would inject a substantial amount of revenue into the beleaguered Riot Games. The League of Legends product continues to flourish but teams and players have voiced many concerns over financial stability and compensation.
